Brainspotting Therapy

What is Brainspotting? Beyond talk therapy

IFS_EMDR_ketamine_therapy_santamonica
Brainspotting is a powerful, brain-body therapy that goes beyond talk therapy to help you process trauma, anxiety, and overwhelming emotions. It works by identifying “brainspots” — eye positions that connect to stored emotional and physical experiences in the nervous system. When you focus on these spots in a safe, supportive session, your brain begins to naturally process and release what has been stuck.

How Brainspotting Works

  • Gentle and non-invasive: You don’t have to retell or relive all the details of your trauma.
  • Body-based: It engages the nervous system where trauma is often held, not just the thinking mind.
  • Deep healing: Many clients describe feeling lighter, calmer, and more connected to themselves after sessions.
  • Integrative: Brainspotting can be combined with EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and somatic therapy for a more complete approach to healing.

Who Can Benefit from Brainspotting?

  • Feeling stuck despite years of talk therapy
  • Struggling with anxiety, panic, or intrusive thoughts
  • Carrying unresolved trauma or grief
  • Experiencing physical symptoms linked to stress (tension, fatigue, headaches)
  • Looking for therapy that helps both your mind and body heal

What a Session Looks Like

In session, we’ll work together to gently notice where your eyes naturally focus when you think about an emotion, memory, or sensation. That eye position, your “brainspot,” acts as a doorway into deeper processing. You don’t have to re-tell your trauma in detail — your nervous system does the work, while I guide and support you in a safe, attuned way.
